The United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA) is a legitimate organization and the link in the email does take you to the real site. However there are several things wrong with this email that shows this is a scam.

First, the email is being sent by someone with access to a legitimate email address from the Dougherty County School System in Albany, GA, USA. The headers have been examined and there is no evidence of spoofing. Chances are good the email account has been hijacked by scammers and is being used without the owner's knowledge. The school system has been notified.

Next, note that you are suppose to reply to this address: [email protected]. This organization does not use free live.com (Microsoft) email addresses. From the contact page here: http://www.unfpa.org/help/contact.htm you can see that all legitimate email addresses from this organization use unfpa.org.

Also, here is no way a legitimate organization would randomly email strangers (note this email is not addressed to anyone specifically and certainly not me) and tell them they have been awarded any grants. I did not apply for anything with this organization nor have I ever had any contact with them. I have also notified the UNFPA of this email.

Inevitably, if I did respond, there would be 'fees' I would have to pay and then there would never be any money for me. This is a SCAM!
