A few days ago I got two calls from the above (and below) number, from someone with a stern, low contralto voice. I could not transcribe the message, as I was going on a trip and had to leave in a hurry. I transcribed the messages when I got back:
Whoever called started speaking before my machine started recording. This was obviously a scam, as no one would contact someone like that about a tax matter, and the script isn't even coherent.
... investigation team of IRS. We have just received a notification regarding your tax filings from the headquarters which will get expired in the next 24 working hours. In order to get expired after that, you will be taken under custody by the local cops, as there are four serious allegations pressed on your name on this moment. We would request that you get back to us so that we can discuss about this case before taking any legal action against you. The number to reach us is 646-809-9640. I repeat 646-809-9640.
