It is a basic cheque cashing scam. The cheque will be a fake, but by the time your bank has discovered that (weeks or even months after it is deposited), it will be too late as you will have already sent the money to the scammers.

Please cease all further correspondence with them and if they call you the best thing to do is to either hang up or tell them that you have changed your mind.

As Alan said, there is no wrap, and no installer. It is nothing more than a fake check scam.
As Alan recommended, just drop him.

Dear Alan Jones and Dotti, I am very grateful for your responses to my plea. I will take your advice immediately and cease further communications. Thank you both very much indeed. It's the old adage again really isn't it. "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

i need help! the same thing happened and they said they already mailed the check to me so what should i do?

You have not committed any crime at this point, and as long as you don't cash the check, you will be guilty of no crime. Do not cash the check. You can:

-Refuse Delivery
-Take the check to the police
-Shred the check
-Write fake on the check in PERMANENT, large print, and keep it as a souvenir.

Block the scammer's email address so he cannot reach you again. If he does, just ignore him. If he threatens you, ignore him. If you receive letters from the FBI, etc. claiming you are facing prosecution or lawsuits, ignore them. Scammers make these things up all the time. The truth is, there is nothing to charge you with, and everything to charge them with.

Im not sure what to do if they send me that check should i print the emails and the craigslist ad i found of it and take it all to the authorities???? or just send the check back?????

When you get the check, you can take it to the police along with printouts of the emails, or shred it, or write "fake" on it and frame it, but don't take it to the bank. If you take it to the police, they won't find the scammers, who are in another country. They'll find only the person who sent the check.

Don't say anything more to the scammers. If they call, don't answer; if they write increasingly angry emails, ignore them. Especially don't tell them you found out it's a scam.

Same thing happened to me! They wanted me to advertise on my car for the Full Throttle Energy Drink. They sent me two checks(which together totaled over $4k). I took everything to the police(checks, printed emails, FedEx envelope showing their name/address/ph#) and filed a police report. Like the others in this post said, do not cash the checks. Oh and I also called the banks that both cashiers checks were from and they informed me that the acct#'s on the checks were real accounts, but the remitter name on the checks did not match the name on the acct and they requested me to fax copies of the checks to them. They were very grateful that I contacted them.

I just received the check from the full throttle car wrap scam i have been reading. 2730.00 Check i have and the deal seems good but i dont know if i should deposit it, or if i can send it to some agency so it can be track and get an arresst, or trash it. Any ideas?

Unless your goal is to get yourself arrested, cashing the check is not a good idea.

Chances of getting someone arrested are slim, as the criminals behind this scam are in another country. If the check was mailed to you, file a mail fraud report with the US postal inspector. Or, file a police report as the previous person posted.

So I got a weird feeling about an ad I responded to on craigslist about painting someone's bathroom's for 500 bucks. When she emailed me, suddenly it was bedrooms, not bathrooms. She said she was out of the country and needed it done before Aug. 15th but later in the email said before the end of the month (Aug.). Then she said I'd be compensated $500, and later said a check and payments would be mailed to my house ($410, and payments). Then she asked me to give her my mailing address, phone number, etc. Except she said no P.O. box for the mailing address, that's what made me search up her name--Patricia Elis. I'm assuming this is a scam??

Also post the email address/phone number she used.

If she has asked you to cash the check then forward money to some other party then it is a scam for sure.
