I like the format Emma used to post a scammer, so I'm going to follow suit in the hopes that we can start a most wanted list of these scam artists.

"Linda" or "Cool Linda" is an internet scammer preying on the vulnerable and those looking for love. She signs up at dating sites, and has a myspace page, and pretends to be a 27-year-old US citizen from Auburn, WA. She says she works for an NGO (non-governmental organization), under UNAIDS. On other sites she's claimed to be in the travel/hotel industry. It's all lies.
She sweet-talks her victim by professing her love, and once she has her victim hooked she asks for money. In my case, Linda wouldn't talk by telephone (a technique to use if a potential victim has any doubt about who they're talking to). She claimed she couldn't afford one, but wouldn't accept delivery of one. She would, on the other hand, accept money sent to her via Western Union to go out and buy one herself.
Linda is not fussy when she is looking for 'love'. She is exceedingly patient, but it's obvious she is conducting several chat conversations at the same time. Potential victims are cautioned to watch for extended response times between messages, and the usual "what do you mean?" which is her way of hooking back into the conversation she's having with you.
This scammer is on hold now because I gave her a pretty hard time. Hopefully, she will pursue another line of work, but her sites are still active, even though I've reported her.
