I had two rooms for rent I received a response for the first one from "estrella Wilson" and two days later received one for the second room from " Cassie brandy" I responded to the first one gave my address and name I quit responding after I received the second one knew immediately it was a scam

I wrote back and told them I have caught on and to stop wasting my time! these people should be put away> I heard theres people that demand money saying you didn't follow through with the deal and they want their money back even though you didn't receive any. I checked out the tracking and does link to a sight but not to fedex!. Im sure they gonna try and do the same to me now that they said the money has been sent. Im nervous now since they have my address, cell number and pic! cant believe how stupid I was to fall for that! any suggestions?

has anyone ever received a false check rom these people? did they try and come after you even though you didn't do anything with it? they have my cell, and home address and e-mail and also me being stupid a pic!!

You have really nothing to worry about. You may get a fake threat from the scammer. The scammer may email you telling you that you need cash the fake check and send him the over payment. He will tell you that he will call the FBI, Law Enforcement or his fake Lawyer. It is nothing but a false threat. In a slim chance the scammer may use your photo in future scams. The slim chance is because he only has one. Scammers prefer multiple photo's.

Hi, I just lost $1,900 to this guam researcher scam. I'm hoping we can collaborate to get this person.

I've been feeling a range of emotions.

• Rage toward the scammer.
• Frustration with my bank for telling me a check was good when it wasn't.
• Shame and frustration for not realizing what was happening.

Here is my story:
I was renting my room for $600 a month on craigslist. I picked a renter who said she was a researcher from Guam. She sent me a check for $2,500 instead of $600 and asked me to forward the difference to a car dealer. I gave the check to my bank and when it cleared the next day I figured the money was good and I was safe.
The day after that, I withdrew and Western Union'ed $1,900 to the scammer.
The following day Chase bank withdrew $2,500 from my account.

Now I'm stuck with a huge negative balance.
I borrowed $200 from a friend to live off of but otherwise it will be 2 paychecks until I can spend money again.
If I work quickly I may be able to get my employer not to direct deposit my next paycheck so that I won't be late on my mortgage.

I have a google drive folder with all the evidence I could gather. I could share it with anyone interested but I'm hesitant because some stuff has my bank account number on it.

Sorry that you were a victim to this scammer. Unfortunately, you will not get your money back. There is little chance in locating and identifying the scammer. The person you sent the money to may also be a victim. This victim may be thinking they have a job as a Personal Assistant.

You can post the first couple of emails the scammer sent you along with their email address. Please remove any of your personal information. This will help others avoid his scams.
