Dear....
Good morning how are you doing? Hope you slept well last night. Last night I couldn't chat because I went to bed early, I was very tired and dizzy. Please forgive me for not replying you.
Ja, my full name is Shaun Francisco, all the American soldiers have email at .mil but the last time I used it was at the defense academy, I don't use on social purpose because of the security scrutiny, normally we are not allowed to be discussing issues pertaining to our mission in afghan, so you can see that I violate the instructions when I tell you some military terms, but if I had used my military email address to write you, it will not deliver and I will not receive from you. So I don't want to be in risk and be under security watch, I could be detained. I hope you understand.
Today we will be able to chat but not now because I want to go have lunch and then unit meeting, but I will write you on viber as soon as I am free. Have a nice weekend. You are in my thoughts. Hugs

Dear ....,
thanks for your email and i appreciate your open hearten testimony about your feelings but i think you are still insecure about me. Hence your statement towards me were harassing. I don't need to explain every details to you for the wrong reasons, It makes me sad that you want to know much about me because you have doubt that i am not real. Well, that doesn't seem like a natural way of falling in love. Love is such a huge commitment and i understand you don't want to make a wrong choice. Although, my heart weeps and i feel i should tell you even though it is contradictory to how somethings are done around here.
Starting from my daily schedule, as you already know... i am a normal soldier, US-Army. and i normally wake up as early as 5am. Our base is made of metal containers, tables laid for a meal in a hut. Endless lines of tents, and helicopters parked in the dust. We have air-conditioners, helping to blunt the scorching heat of Afghanistan's south. They are also the mundane daily scenes of camp life or social activities, such as dinning facilities, entertainment hall...where we watch tv, play games, gist, drink and smoke...but not like normal relaxed environment where you have peace and real merriment.
my logistic deployment is a rotation between Bagram and Kandahar, its a basis where we involve in transporting all general essentials to Kandahar with the use of helicopters, so i work with an airforce man. My duty is limited when there is not much errand. so sometimes i'm relieved from duty from 18'o'clock. But also involve in security, like troops gun fight, a war without the fight...hahaha:) in the middle of violent each day of our deployment.
The enlistment for next turn is something i am not sure about, perhaps it is a kind of diplomatic strategy, our leaders may have their individual interest while we are here but my official contract offers till end of the year and might extend but i am not sure yet. I have been in two tours in Iraq some years back. My best friend lost his life in my old unit. If you have feelings about war, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to those opinions. But Speaking from personal experience, more often than not, we go back again and again not because we love war, killing, etc... but because we want to be there for each other- to watch each other's backs, to care for our buddies with whom we have a bond that far surpasses any marriage, any sports team. A friend of mine voluntarily delayed his retirement to return to Iraq because "his boys needed him". He paid for that sense of duty, that pride, that love of his fellow man with his LIFE.
I'm telling you all these because we all make sacrifices, and i respect the sacrifice of love, perhaps i will do anything for love. I will never betray any trust as a result of love. Opening up to you is part of it. you are in my thoughts.
I attach my photo as you requested...
Have a nice day, hugs
Shaun

Now he wrote me yesterday , that his son had an emergency treatmand by a privat doctor, because of asthma. Now he has to pay 1000 Dollar for the case. This all he wrote on viber ,so I couldn´t copy it.
I said :No.
I don´t know, if he will answer again.
But he has my home adress over a "military gadget" he said.

He seems to be a scammer, I fear.Am I right?
Did I have to fear something from them in the future?

I haven´t send any money and I will not do it in the future.

Sorry for my english and thank you for your help.

Welcome to Scamwarners butterfly100,
The person that you are email is not an American soldier but is a scammer that is most likely located in Western Africa. America soldiers and their family member have access to medical treatment and would not be asking someone they just met for money.
Just ignore his emails and telephone calls and he will go away.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

The man writing to you is not an American soldier.

He is a young African who makes his living pretending to be an honorable man. He establishes phony relationships with women online for the sole purpose of stealing money.

He knows nothing about life as a soldier in Afghanistan. He copies the information about life as a soldier from sites like this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/14/us-troops-daily-life-in-a_n_682174.html#s126720 What he doesn't copy, he makes up.

He makes up idiotic excuses to get around things like a .mil address (soldiers ARE allowed to use .mil addresses for personal email, and if information is sensitive enough they can't email it from a .mil address, they certainly aren't going to share it over a free web-based email address, which is far more insecure and risky, and would lead to much greater trouble.

Just cut off contact with him. Ignore him, or block his email address. He may continue to try to lie to you if he thinks he can still convince you to believe him and send money. Just ignore all attempts.

You are at no risk. He is a petty criminal looking for quick and easy money. He did not get any information from a "military gadget" because he is not, and has never been, in the military. He is not going to visit you or any member of your family. You have committed no crime and are at no risk from the authorities.

Just ignore, block, move on, and watch for more attempts to scam you in the future.

As to .mil addresses, see http://www.romancescam.com/forum/viewto ... 91&t=55756 .

He is in Africa and scams by using false identities. If he were to visit you, he would have to declare his true identity to the airport guards and others. He's not going to do that. He's not trying to commit identity theft either, just trying to extort money by telling lies.

butterfly100 wrote:But he got my address over Viber. He told me my address.

If he got your address then it is because it is freely available on the Internet somewhere and he has found it using the other information that you have given him, not because he is in the military as he claims.

He is no threat to you, he is a pathetic little individual sitting in an Internet cafe somewhere, who is too dumb or lazy (or most likely both) to get a real job.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

It is truly amazing how much information can be found using a few simple google searches. In this case, the scammer used information he found on the internet to try to further pull you into his scam.

it is important when you meet people online that you limit the information you share until you get to know the person. The more information a scammer has about you, the more he can customize his scam to you and make it seem more real.

It is also a good idea to open a new email address to use if you are meeting people online, one that is not the same as any email you use for friends, family, or business. This way, if they turn out to be a scammer, you can close the email address without affecting your daily life.
