Am I being scammed by [email protected]

Long story short...Agreed to buy a set of Bernese mountain puppies from him. Through text and email. Settled on a price. He states that they will ship from Alabama to my door through a pet delivery company. I wired him half the payment, and the second half would come after the dogs came. Long story short...I get notification that the delivery company now needs $900-1500 for "special pressurized crates." The shipping company is OATS or O'brien Animal Transportation Services-website- www.obrienline.me.ht
Email back and forth with the "breeder" James. Wired money to James Rodick, 325 Palisades Boulevard, Birmingham, Alabama, 35022. With test question: WHEN and test answer: NOW

The website the breeder gave me is www.marvelpuppies.co.nf

Do you have any insight into any of these companies or people? The other names they wanted me to send the shipping fees to were-Gaston Taylor and Brian Phillip both at the same Birmingham, AL address

Welcome to ScamWarners. I am sorry to tell you that you have been scammed. I can tell by your post that you were instructed to send the funds by Western Union. That is one of the first signs that you are dealing with a scammer. Scammers use Western Union, because the transaction is basically untraceable and it is almost impossible to get your money back. If the transaction is less than a few hours old, it is possible to stop it in some cases. This sounds like it is several days old and the "shipper" is delaying it more AND working to get more money from you.

Please do not throw more money at this. You will only lose more money and have more heart ache.

The address next to the one you were given is a WalMart store. The website gives NO address, and there are misspellings on it. All cues that this is a scam. The domain is registered in Amsterdam as best I could tell. It is under several layers, which legitimate businesses typically do not hide like this. "The majority of the domains registered under the .NF ccTLD are through entities associated with Norfolk Island."

.ME domain names are personalized and .HT is Haiti. "The .ht domain name presents a great opportunity for local and international companies wanting to represent their business in Haiti." The shipping company website has indicators of being a scammer's website. I won't go into it because I do not want to educate any scammer that might stop by.

We strongly urge you NOT to tell the scammer what you now know. Just stop all contact with them. Sadly, the money you sent is gone. Ignore them, delete or block them on your phone or computer. I am sorry.

The credit card payment option on www.marvelpuppies.co.nf is an unencrypted phishing page. If you input your CC information contact your card issuer now and inform them that your card has been compromised.

Thanks so much. I should have trusted my gut. Oh well. Lesson learned. I did not give my credit card info. Is the shipping company part of the scam too?
