I just joined this forum and I am very confident I have run into the same type of scam as what has been posted numerous times. I joined the Tagged dating app. In the terms of service it states all users must be 18 years or older to join. Since joining I matched with various females and chatted with them.

Last Thursday I matched with a girl whose profile stated she was 19 years old in Alabama. She said hi and we had a very short chat, maybe a couple of minutes. She then asked for my phone number. Reluctantly and now stupidity, I gave it to her. The next day she texted me and became sexual very quickly. Again we only texted for maybe 5 minutes. I played along with her and then she was gone. Saturday comes along and she starts sending sexual pictures, none of them I requested. She asked me to send a sexual picture. Against my better judgment I send one. We chatted again for only a few minutes. She then said she would call me the next day. We had not discussed actually talking yet at that point.

Sunday morning some guy calls me claiming I was sexting with his adopted 15 year old daughter. He said his wife was going through her daughters phone, at church of all places, and she is very angry and upset and wants to go to the police and report it. I said sir I am very sorry and I feel very bad about what happened. I will discontinue any contact with her as of now. I met her on an adult dating website that stated her age was 19 on her profile. He then says well you should have asked for photo ID, which I thought was ridiculous. He said I would be prosecuted for having child pornography. I again said sorry. I thought she was 19 and there will be no further contact. He said that was not good enough, and what were we going to do about this, his wife is very upset, she wants to destroy the phone. Then asks me if I will pay for the phone to resolve the situation. That was a red flag right there for me. I said I felt it was not necessary to destroy the phone. He said his wife did not want that filth any more. I told him, sorry I am not going to do that, I will talk to the police if I have to. He then said have a nice day and hung up.

I was quite disturbed about the situation, although I felt I did not do anything wrong, although I regret giving my phone number and exchanging sexual pictures. I obviously had no intention of communicating with a minor but still very disturbed by the situation. Thinking back on how the conversations moved along so quickly, how aggressive sexually she was, and the fact she said she would call me the next day, made me feel like she/he was preparing me to accept the call. I felt it was a scam and I was being setup. I immediately changed my phone number, took a screenshot of her dating profile and also blocked her profile from being able to contact me. I viewed her profile a few times throughout the day on Monday and showed it had been active a few times during the day, which leads me to believe it was definitely a scam.

Last night I deleted my account on that site and plan to never give out my phone number again, or share those types of photos again. Even though my experience sounds so much like the rest on here, its hard not to have some worry, the guy is convincing.

I just found this site yesterday and unfortunately do not have the phone number. Just wanted to share this with others. Unfortunately though, we do not find this website until it happens to us. It makes me feel better about the situation now, but it will take a while for me to not have concern.

This has all the elements of the previous scams :

Over age profile . Aggressive / promiscuous texting . Then claims that the person in the profile was under age come later along with demands for various fake monetary damages . Sometimes these criminals will pose as police officers .

Can you please post or private message a link to the fake profile so we can look at it ? Sometimes we can find additional fakes . You can also report this on the IC3 Website.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and posting to Scamwarners . Your post will help warn other potential victims of this Blackmail / Extortion Scam .

Everyone knows how skype scam works so I will be short. First they sent me a youtube link to email, I imidiately reported and was removed. Day after they said that thay know website of my workplace and numbers also (they do know they also know my phone number!) and they will post a video there (probably will try to send a linke in one of those emails). I am very worried :(

Read and follow the advice in the first post of this topic. If the scammers have no way of contacting you, they have no way to blackmail you - if they share the video to your friends/family then all of their leverage is gone.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

I gotta give it to these people doing this it's a great scam but it's just that. It's an enormous scam. I just today had the exact same thing happen to me that I have read in every post on here. A man named "Calvin Aivaz" claiming to be an ex military man called me after I was texting a girl I believed to be 19 that I met on pof. The girls name was Ashley. We texted. Exchanged photos. Exchanged nude photos. She told me she was 16 and I blocked her immediately. Later today I get a call from her "father" "Calvin Aivaz" saying that Ashley had been caught in school taking pictures during class and that I was in huge trouble. Same thing as everyone else with the "wife" wanting to press charges and the "father" is on your side and doesn't want to get you in trouble. He proceeds to tell me that the only way he can't go to the cops is if I fix his tv that his "daughter" had just broken in a tantrum over the ordeal. He wants 900. I get the money. Go to pay it and he gives me info to send it and as soon as I asked him why I was sending the money to South Carolina to a "Heather Aivaz" he got very defensive and said he was calling the police and hung up. I blocked that number. He calls me off of a different number and I blocked that too. Haven't gotten another call yet. This is a god damn shame I read about the Texas professor who took his own life over this scam and it's just awful and cruel what these people are doing. I immediately felt relieved when my father found this website.

Had a similar situation happen to me was on Craigslist (really low) but met this girl she started sending pics without me asking gave me an address to meet her at and gave me her number 8133086196 later found out she was 15 and she's was asking me o get her alcohol I refused and dropped it all a month later, which was yesterday, I get a call from detective David Higgins saying he had a case on me and he was gonna send it to my local police department and they would be picking me up in 24 hours he knew my name and everything that went down he was so set on sending me to jail at first he wasn't asking for anything but then I told him I guess do it he said "look I have way more cases than yours, bigger even, this case means nothing to me" then he explains that I could get the charges expunged if I pay over 900$ I asked him how I would do that he just said "go to Walmart and call me when your there" I said ok and hung up never calling back then he texted me "good luck in federal court!" And he said I would be picked up and have to do years in prison and have to register as a sex offender I was shaking scared cuz it sounded real and at first he didn't answer it went to his voicemail it sounded so convincing I tried looking the numbers up and got nothing I looked him up and got nothing until I found other ppl on this site have dealt with this guy before I'm relieved to hear that it's a scam but he texted me last night "send case papers to local police department" but he didnt use the word local he actually knew my city, should I be worried? Been wondering if he really did send anything but I don't want to deal with him to ask

Before professor James Aune leapt to his death from a Texas A&M parking garage, he sent a final text message to the man authorities allege lured him into an underage online sex extortion plot.

"Killing myself now And u will be prosecuted for blackmail," Aune wrote. He pressed the send button one minute before he jumped to his death on Jan. 8, according to a federal complaint.

The man who authorities said received that text message, Daniel Duplaisir, 37, pleaded not guilty in a Houston federal court today to a felony charge of sending threatening communications.

Authorities said Aune, 59, was chairman of the Department of Communications at Texas A&M University and he became trapped in an elaborate extortion plot orchestrated by Duplaisir that threatened to turn his world upside-down.

The scheme involved using explicit photos Duplaisir allegedly took of an underage female relative to lure men into an online relationship and share their names and phone numbers, according to the federal complaint. The suspect would then contact the victim posing as an angry father demanding money to pay for the daughter's therapy, court documents state. The scam has been operated by Duplaisir since at least 2011, the charges claim.

Aune, a married father of two sons, took the bait, believing he was conversing with a girl named Karen McCall, according to communications detailed in the complaint.

In December, the professor received his first communication from Duplaisir, who authorities said posed as the girl's angry father who had discovered the affair.

According to the complaint, Duplaisir demanded $5,000 to pay for his daughter's counseling and a computer he said he had broken to keep her off the internet. If Aune didn't pay, he said, he would contact Texas A&M University and authorities.

"I answered and said I would do whatever he wanted….I sent him $1,000 and then promised more in January," Aune wrote in an email sent to the address for Karen McCall, according to the complaint.

"I am s***-scared about this, and can't figure out how to come up with more money," he said, telling Karen he couldn't talk to her anymore.

Beginning at 9:04 a.m. Jan. 7, Duplaisir sent a series of text messages and emails to the professor demanding more money and giving him a deadline of Jan. 8 at 12 p.m., according to the complaint.

"If I do not hear from you I swear to God Almighty that the police, your place of employment, students, ALL OVER THE INTERNET…ALL OF THEM will be able to see your conversations, texts, pictures you sent," Duplaisir wrote, according to the complaint.

"And if by some miracle you get away with this I will use every chance I get to make sure every place or person associated with you knows and see what you have done," he said. "Last chance, you better make right move."

At 10:30 a.m. the next day, Aune killed himself.

Aune's widow, Miriam, told authorities that in mid-December her husband told her he had become "involved in sexually explicit chat" with a minor he had met online and that he was now being extorted by her father. She told authorities that her husband had paid $1,500 to someone using Green Dot banking's reloadable debit cards.

A subpoena of Green Dot bank records revealed the money had gone to Daniel Duplaisir of Metairie, La. Furthermore, surveillance video at a Lowe's showed Duplaisir making a $114.04 purchase with one of the cards, according to the complaint.

Duplaisir was arrested in January.

The suicide of the popular professor stunned the Texas A&M community.

"Jim always made the time to chat, email, share a smoke or a story with his many friends, students, and colleagues," his obituary on the school's website said. "We will all miss his witty banter, his kind words of encouragement, and his gentle nudges to believe in ourselves.

Texas A&M officials did not immediately respond to an interview request.

I'm embarrassed but talking about will help me, I hope.

So Im on pof(plenty of fish) and I matched with this chick who is 18. We exchange phone numbers and all. I ask for a pic and she sends a selfie and text saying she would send something else(you know what she means)but first we had know more of each other, so me at night being a bit too happy, I sent her a pic(xxx) . Next morning I get texts and calls from her "father" saying that she is 16 and that she told me so which she didn't. I start to freak out, he starts to threaten me with the police if I don't call him and talk about the situation. So I call him, scared as baby, I tell him that she was on an adult site and that her profile said she was 18, and that I'm not that sick of a person. Not going to lie, I cried. Thinking that I was going to spend the rest of my life in jail and labeled as a pedo, and of course the shame from my family. So hes talking about how he and his wife are discussing what they're going to do about me, and I'm over here telling him that I'm sorry that I would never do that. By the way everytime he wants to talk to his wife he hangs up and calls me minutes later(this went on for couple times) so then he says that he doesn't want to press charges because I'm young and all, making me feel better, but he says that his wife is still thinking about it. We even shared a prayer 'haha' .then he goes on saying that he is going to cancel his daughters number and that it would cost him 900 dollars. So he tells me to help out with cost and to only pay $480, at this point I had my doubts but it felt so real and I was really scared. So I say I would help, I ask him if I could send him the money thru mail since I don't have a debit card or any card, he then says that his wife suggest that I get a green dot card from Walgreens . So I give in to his demands. I gave him the money, he then sends me another text saying that he still needs to talk to his wife about the situation, which made think again(thinking that they where going to ask me for more) so I delete my social accounts and I change my phone number all together. Then I found this site.. This just happened this morning. It made me search for this site because I found it to be weird that he was asking for money. And the fact that it sounded very similar to some cases in here. But I wasn't thinking straight during the situation.
I might be forgetting something but that's most of it.
Sorry if it's hard to read. I can't think straight right now..i feel humiliated and depressed.
