So I believe I have what has happened to me is part of these scams after reading through here. So I meet a girl on POF, profile said she was 18, we exchanged a few messages then she asked if we could text so I agreed. She gave me her number which was an Ohio area code which threw me off because that’s a few states over. I asked her about it and she said she recently moved here and was from Ohio. Red flag I know but I texted anyway. We had some small talk then after sent me a photo, I sent her one back, no nudity on either. After a while asked if I would like to have fun and I agreed. She sent some nudes and in return I just sent a shirtless picture. She asked for a nude on in which I said I couldn’t. After a while I she sends a video of herself using a toy. I say a few naughty things. She got mad at me for not sending one in which I told her I was busy. She then apologizes and asked my age. I tell her I’m 27, and then ask her age which I thought I knew because of her profile. She replied saying she was 17. Then asked to meet up and I told her no that’s a legal issue in which she replied something I forget but asked when she turned 18 and it was two weeks away. That was end of the conversation that night. I was disgusted when found out she was 17 and deleted everything thing she sent. The next morning she sends a good morning text and asked if I was working I said good morning and yes she then asked if we still wanted to hang out and I politely said not sure. I know I never should of replied that morning but I didn’t wanna be prick. Never heard nothing back till later that evening when I got a call from a Kansas number. I answer it and it’s her supposed dad (older white guy thick southern accent) saying he found his daughter giggling at her phone and saw our messages. Says he filled a report with the police in the city they lived and they got in contact with the sheriff where I live. He said he was going to file the report and listed off the crimes. I told him her profile on POF said she was eighteen and in return he said he already called them and said it’s not their fault after the number exchange they have no liability. After a long conversation about how his wife doesn’t know and she is on her way to Cincinnati to bring back her mom (which was weird because they just flew back from Ohio) and she will have to turn around to take care of her daughter after this and file with the sheriffs as well. He said he hadn’t told her yet and if we could make a deal as men he wouldn’t tell her or the police. He claimed she just got the phone for Christmas and would now have to cancel it and if I agreed to pay half of each we would make the deal. So I said I would, he wanted me to cash app the money told him I didn’t have that app. He then said to get a green dot card at cvs, Walgreens, or rite aid. ( this is when I thought was the scam because rite aid is not a store anywhere near my region) so I told him this is a scam. He got even more upset and told me if I don’t do it in an hour he’ll call the police back up and file charges I told him no and he said I’ll give you two minutes to call me back and make your decision, if you don’t agree you’ll have a bad new year. I never called back and have yet to hear anything. He asked for my last name which o never gave. Whole conversation thing was about 45 min long. I’m sure it’s a scam so wanted to let you know my story and get your opinions I was stupid and now will never use online again.

Here are some more info about my situation:

Dad kept calling me son like in other stories

Both phone numbers used after looking them up daughter and father are non-fixed VOIP which gave me another red flag after finding that

Time between texts with her was always long for her to respond

The fathers number ended in 000 which was weird, friend tried to call number after I told him and no answer and not a voicemail message.

I’m still kinda worried it is not a scam but the more I think about it. It just seems like a good thought trough one. I’m still nervous on if I’ll hear anything again.

Thanks for the reply. I can’t post a link to the POF profile, since I deactivated it after the call. But can provide the phone numbers.

Supposed father 9136621000

Girl from POF claimed Ashley was her name
2163597103

Also another bit of information I forgot to put in my original post. He said he was retired marine and owned 2 landscape companies. He assured me the green dot card would work for payment because that’s how he paid his illegals in his company’s

Still haven’t received another call, don’t think I will since I told him it sounded like a scam.

Read the first post in this topic and follow the instructions there to the letter.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

If you have deactivated you Instagram and removed all other means for the scammer to contact you then he no longer has leverage over you. He is only interested in the money he can blackmail from you, so posting the images gains him nothing. If he can't contact you to make his threats, he will soon move on elsewhere.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

So this happened to me yesterday and really freaked me out. After a few minutes I calmed down and began researching and came across this blog. Thank god there was this resource and many others that have been through this.

I matched with a girl on bumble who was 18. Atleast I thought so. Her name was Taylor and she was looking for just friends. After a little while she asked to exchange numbers because bumble was eating up her data. I agreed and we did so. The conversation got charged a little while after and we exchanged an explicit photo. She replied a couple more times then just quit talking. Like most conversations on there I figured she lost interest as I am older than her and let it be.
Now a few odd things I did notice is that her profiles said she was in Idaho, but was living in Delaware. I checked back an hour later and it said she lived in Texas but was currently located in South Carolina. She said she had graduated high school early (16) but she was due to get her Bachelors degree next spring (so 18 and so to be 19 was viable based off of the information I had on bumble).
The next day I received a call from a private investigator who knew my first and last name (I do not believe I gave my last name during the conversations) telling me the parents has found our conversation on her phone, I was looking at 3 felony counts or possession of child pornography, soliciting a minor, and one other count. I instantly was sick to my stomach as anyone would be when they are accused of something like this.
The PI called and said that bumble has a disclaimer that what happens after the exchange of number is not their responsibility, and the angry father repeated this.
The angry father called me and discuss because hes a reasonable man, but his wife wanted to press charges immediately. He then stated that they were sending her to a boot camp for trouble teens and said he only had $1000 in his savings, and if I would cover the other $2600 they wouldn't press charges. I said I would but the father had to talk to his overly angry wife, who has seizures, and can not work would be ok with that. He also stated he didn't know how the billing would work and how to get the money to them because she handles the finances, he was just a truck driver and he was on the road. After several back and forths he said something about moneypak then I asked what it was, he said whatd you say, I said what is moneypak and he replied no paypal. I told him I couldn't pay today, it'd have to wait until the end of the week. He called his wife again to see if that was ok, then he called me back and said he was sticking his neck out for me because it's just a misunderstanding and i don't seem like a creeper or a pedophile. Which I am not.
I then started googling because it seemed scamish to me, and here this forum is, and I am beyond happy and relieved I came across it. I have blocked the number of this person but I still have the information to share. However it may be a number generator, I have not reached out to see if the person on the other end is genuine or not.
The dad only went by Mr. Davis (he spelled is Mr.davis) and said his daughters name was Taylor Davis. The mothers name was unavailable. When I asked for a nonexplicit pic of her I was sent a screenshot of an instagram going by ari.dah.bratt. The man is also calling and texting from 281-817-0409 and the PI called from 281-603-8305 (I googled this number and nothing popped up. I figured if it was an actual PI it would link to his business). These numbers are blocked as per the suggestion of users on here.
Needless to say I have since deactivate bumble and will be searching for a partner the traditional way from now on. This scam scared me away from using these platforms because although this is a scam, I don't want to run in to it ever being a thing in my life, scam or not.

I was in a hookup app for men. I sent nudes, and stupidly my phone number.

Text came from 712-526-0136 and I believe this number is also involved- 757-794-0555 based on a screenshot the person sent me of a convo he was having with someone else to check card balance. He was demanding gift cards or they would release photos to friends list which he sent me a picture of. Even though FB is locked down- nothing prevents them from direct messaging those people.

I am embarrassed to say I complied with their request and sent pics of gift cards as requested.

I haven’t heard anything from them since. I’m frightened and ashamed.

Well don't be surprised if you hear from them again . Once they have a "fish" on the hook , they'll try to fleece them as much as possible .

Be sure to file a report on the IC3 website . Thanks for posting.

A big thank you to the volunteers on this site. I've found some way to panic less and begin to think clearly as a result of the moderator responses, but also through the various stories others have shared.

Glad this is here. The online community/digital community can be very healing, if you find the right place(s) to visit.

I got the same type of scam. I was freaking out until I read this post thread. Thank God!
I meet someone in tinder by the name of Halei. Matched and told me to chat thru Facebook. We started exchanging messages and she sent me a few nude pictures. Then she asked me how old I was and I asked her the same thing. She told me she was 17 and was going to be 18 in 2 months. That’s when I told her I was going to stop taking to her and then she started sending me nude videos masturbating and asked me to send her some of mine. Then the conversation stopped and I got a call from supposedly her father telling me I was going to jail. I told him to stop calling me and hanged up. I blocked his number and he texted me from another number. I blocked that number also. Then I got a call from fake detective from Alexandria police department. He left a message. The number is real but the number to call him back is not. I was freaking out and then I deleted all my social media, profile from work, etc. I’m basically a ghost. Then I got a call at my work number but I noticed it was a TN number and didn’t answer.

Here are the numbers I have:
Fake Halei‘s number (412)480-7858 TN
Fake Fathers number (423) 524-3142 TN
Fake Detective brown (571)570-5174 VA

I do hope this helps to people of they are going thru the same thing.

If it doesn’t stop. I’ll contact the FBI

I’m done with these fucking scammers

You should file a report with the FBI on the IC3 website ASAP. If victims don't file reports, nothing will get done about it . Victims of this crime have actually committed suicide because of it .

File A Report
