Information on romance scams and scammers.

Thank you for posting this additional information up vampireangel1076. It is really helpful to be able to keep current on the email addresses that are being used.

Don't take it personally, the scammer doesn't know who he is writing to or what your background might be. He just hopes to be believable enough to get you to send money. You are correct, he didn't know who he came upon and that is a great thing for us and our side. :oh-joy:

Actually this is not new topics because someone named Debbie ever posted the similar cases with title "US ARMY LEAVE SCAM - AFGHANISTAN". But let me tell me what is happening to me.
I have received request from a Sgt Harrison Stone (SSN 32006) in the US Army in Afghanistan to ask for a leave permit to meet him. I send the request to [email protected] and i have got confirmation on behalf of General Benjamin Hanks, Leave Permit Processing Dept., New York, New York, United States.

In the leave request form, they are asking for $ 880.00 (processing fee) to be paid so his leave will be granted. That fee should be send to the financial secretary to the below address:
NAME : SHEILA FERRYMAN
CITY : SPRINGFIELD
STATE : OHIO
ZIP : 45501-0271

Sgt Harrison Stone has an email address [email protected]. We have been corresponding via yahoo messenger.

Please.....please help me because I don't know anything about US Army because I am not American. Am i being scammed?? Harrison Stone also never never asked me for money.
Dear Debbie, if you read my messages, please let me know what should I do??
I am waiting the reply as soon as possible. Thank you.

This guy Nelson Patrick had me beleiving he was in the USA military and is saying he is a military officer in Afganistan this was all lies he had me beleiving. He just wanted me to send him money in order to talk on the phone and asked me to pay $850.00 just to hear eachothers voices. He didn't at this time request or ask any money off me for the leave, he told me he was requesting his leave on Monday the 18th of April 2011 for a period of three months, which will not happen as i can clearly see here he is just a scammer all this information about him is not true. I am happy I was not a stupid woman and was aware and awake to this situation. :D All his internet sites are fake, the name 'Nelson Patrick' is fake, the photos are fake and everything about this person is fake. Even though he lied to me and promised me he had a house in America and sweet talked me having me beleive he loved me and all this shit I'm just glad I was fully aware of this guy and I did not get scammed further. ect Money for phone calls and money for the leave.
Just be aware of who you talk to over the internet.

Hi aussie woman, welcome!
I am very glad that you were not fooled - congratulations! :=)
Maybe you could warn your friends about this type of scam, too? With the scammers far away in Africa or Asia, law enforcement is helpless and awareness is one of our few weapons.
But there is another one: You mentioned his "fake sites".
Did he actually point you to a fake website? Our specialists can get it closed. Please post the link and the first email you received and the specialists can start to work on it.
Have a nice weekend!

hi ive been chating with a master sargant john colins , msgjcoly att,net.com on yahoo,i meet him on a dating site
He asked me to put 3.50 in western union, for a secure phone line, on from usarmyconnectmail.com
He is in Baghdad ,Could you please tell if he is real, he has photos....thanks ann
#52566 by Dotti Wed May 04, 2011 9:10 pm
Welcome Ann,

I'm sorry to tell you that he is not real. The photos you were sent will really be photos of a US soldier, but the scammer, who is African, simply copied those photos from the internet and is pretending to be the person in the photos.

US soldiers and their loved ones don't pay for secure military lines for communications, and usarmyconnectmail.com is not in any way affiliated with the US military. It looks like that domain is not working.

The way the US military request works, only soldiers can make requests for things like leave. Soldiers can get to their own money, and they don't have to pay fees for leave, secure phone lines, or satellite phones. People who aren't in the military do do not make requests military for a soldier. The moment you are asked to contact the military and request ANYTHING it is a guarantee you are dealing with a scammer.

If you can post some of the emails from this scammer, and any you received in respect to the phone, we can get a thread going on this scammer, and you may very well help another woman from being scammed.

Oh My God!!! Ive 'been scamed,I can't believe this. I talked to a guy I knew from Tagged,he introduced himself as a SGT.BARRY HUNT(barrryhunt147)@yahoo),recently employ for the US keeping peace in Lybia. He asked me to send email to his boss so he can get few weeks leave from Lybia, but I question myself is it real or not? Good thing I haven't done nothing yet. Now I realise that is a scam. No wonder He is so nice and sweet,he even sent me the picture of his son. he said he has 11 year old son.
Thank you everyone for sharing the same story.
