I have locked this topic because it is also posted here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16444&p=48114#p48114

This does not appear to be a scam, it is more of a misunderstanding relating to the Terms of Use (TOU) and the billing policy. The following is from the front page of the Meetic.com page where you created a user account:
Meetic.com wrote:By choosing to continue, I certify I am at least 18 years old and have read and agree to the Match.com privacy policy and terms of use.

This page has some of the terms you agreed to by creating a user name: http://www.match.com/registration/membagr.aspx?lid=108
Among them is this statement:
Welcome to Match.com, the service for single adults to meet each other online, operated by Match.com, L.L.C. ("Match.com"). By using the Match.com Website, (the "Website") you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (this "Agreement"), whether or not you register as a member of Match.com ("Member"). If you wish to become a Member and make use of the Match.com service (the "Service"), please read these Terms of Use. If you object to anything in this Agreement or the Match.com Privacy Policy, do not use the Website or the Service. The Terms of Use are subject to change by Match.com at any time, effective upon posting on the Match.com website, and your use of the Service after such posting will constitute acceptance by you of such changes.

Further in is a link to the Billing Details:
All amounts are billed in U.S. dollars at the beginning of each subscription period and will appear on your card or account statement as "wmv Match.com". You also authorize Match.com to charge you for any sales or similar taxes that may be imposed on your subscription payments. To change or cancel your subscription at any time, click the "Account" link on the upper-right corner of the website and follow the directions. You can also change or cancel your subscription by contacting our Customer Care team as directed on the website. If you cancel or change your subscription, we require a reasonable amount of time to process the action. If you cancel, you'll enjoy subscription benefits until the end of your then-current subscription commitment; then your subscription benefits will expire. However, you will not be eligible for a prorated refund of any portion of the subscription fees paid for the then-current subscription commitment. Please print a copy of this page and the subscription page for your records.

Other rights you have:
c. Non-electronic Copy. You have the right to receive this Agreement in non-electronic form. You may request a non-electronic copy of this Agreement either before or after you electronically sign the Agreement. d. Withdrawing Your Consent. You have the right at any time to withdraw your consent to have this Agreement provided to you in electronic form.

(i) Effect. Should you choose to withdraw your consent to have this Agreement provided to you in electronic form, we will discontinue your then-current username and password. This means that you will not have the right to use the Service unless, and until, we issue you a new username and password. We only will issue you a new username and password after we receive a signed copy of a non-electronic version of this Agreement, which we will send to you upon request.

(ii) Notice. To withdraw your consent and/or request a non-electronic copy of this Agreement, please Contact Us online or send a letter and self-addressed stamped envelope to: Match.com, P.O. Box 12305, Dallas, TX 75225.

(iii) Prospective Nature. Your withdrawal of consent shall be effective within a reasonable time after we receive your withdrawal notice described above. Your withdrawal of consent will not affect the legal validity or enforceability of the Agreement provided to, and electronically signed by, you prior to the effective date of your withdrawal.

meetic.com is part of match.com:
As a result of joining forces with Match.com, Meetic is no longer available in North America. Register with Match.com to enjoy all the great benefits Match.com has to offer.

I hope this helps resolve your conflict with meetic.com / match.com

Yes, they want you to remain paying them money each renewal period. That doesn't make them a scam, it means customer beware of the terms you agree to.

I am locking this too. Send me a PM if you need further clarification on my decision.
