Claims 57 years old, dob (the date of birth probably changes to a date shortly after meeting him, this is in the hope of getting a birthday present from you - Ralph) 1951, widower for 8 years with a dependant 12 year old daughter "lori", living in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA, but at present working in Nigeria, constructing an orphanage

This scammer will go through a series of lies to get you to send him money, in no particular order;
Trying to get home and cant cash large pay cheque, asks for loan until he gets home.

His company has paid his air fare home but not for his "daughter" so needs to borrow money for "her" ticket.

Claimed to have be mugged and bashed and ending up in hospital needing to pay doctors bills, promises to pay back when he gets “home”

He will provide very realistic looking fake flight details showing he has paid for his ticket, this is a common trick scammers use, I will not go into details as I do not want to educate any scammers who may visit this thread but I will say that flight details are not difficult to produce with minimal effort.

This scammer, like many other romance scammers will encourage you to use chat with him, he will avoid answering your questions and he will be constantly be making up lies on the run in the hope of further convincing you about how much he loves you.

Looking closer at his chats you will notice short meaningless replies with very little actual content, he will then have sudden bursts of stolen love letters and romantic poems, he will tell you often that he loves and how beautiful you are but will avoid answering your questions

In these emails he is trying to find other ways to communicate with his victim besides email, while many scammers are happy to scam using email only, many others will want to use chat and or telephone calls to speed up their scam.

You will notice that these emails are very short, he is trying to gauge how compliant his victim will be and trying not to waste any time until he knows.

In these examples, the victim has said no to chat and no to making phone calls which may be enough for him to move onto a more compliant victim, time will tell.

Africans make common gramatical errors, in these examples you will notice poor grasp of past tense;
