My father just got through a divorce and search for a new wife, first he had contact with a Russian but when he could not pay for her visa and ticket she lost interest. But now he found a new girl that he has talked with for a while, she want him to send her $ 2200 so she and her son can move from US to Sweden.
I´m working in IT and know have heard all horror stories, and got a little suspicious when i looked at her facebook profile and how fast she is willing to drop everything and move.

Here´s some information am I just an overprotective son or should i try to stop him?
She has 2 facebook accounts and her name is Mary Morgan.

First of all, my thoughts would be that you care about your father and don't want to see him get hurt. I would not call that being over protective at all.

Read the stickies in this forum : viewforum.php?f=13 to familiarize yourself with more tactical applications of romance scams.

Providing a FB page really is not enough information to conclude scam or not. However, with one profile saying she is from Philadelphia, PA , and the other one saying she is from Pretoria, South Africa, there are some major red flags all ready. The poor woman doesn't know where she is from.

Hopefully the emails they have exchanged will show an IP address from "her", and you can trace them to find where "her" real location is.

Tell your father to never send money to anyone he hasn't met in person, face to face.

^^^ You will need to post her email address and some of her emails with headers that were sent to your dad. Also any pictures.

If we determine it is not a scam we will remove the information.

At this point we do not have a lot to work with.

As HillBilly stated there are some red flags. South Africa is known to do romance scams.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.
