It's been an interesting couple of months in online world. I have run into so many scammers it's hard to count them all. Some I've confirmed and some I just suspect. I only realized it after I actually fell victim to one early one. The problem was that this one didn't follow the usual pattern, which makes him very dangerous. His name is Aaron James. I will put a separate post for him.

Known scammers I've run into and what they did and the site:
Patrick Cook - [email protected] - match.com - he wanted me to "cash" a check for him from a friend and send it to him in the Ukraine since he was unprepared with money for the job he was doing there. Says he's Irish - but believe me doesn't sound it.
Marcus Fields - (LaughtoLaugh handle from Spark) - [email protected] - in the army in Afghanistan - wanted me hand over my ID to someone to get a satellite phone connection so we could talk
Mike Williams - [email protected] - Spark - wanted me to send him a thousand dollars to invest in estate he wanted to buy over in England - he supposedly lives in Arlington as an estate appraiser and went there to work.
Captain Hunt Kileen - [email protected] - chemistry - in Iraq and wanted to send me some secret gold stash that a dying shiek gave to him - he was a doctor or something.
Terry Wilson - [email protected] - match.com - had to go to Africa for a job and needed money to get home.
Thomas Titos - match.com - He had to go to Africa too and needed money to get home - he was "Greek"

There were others that seemed suspicious but I won't put their names here in case I am wrong. For a while I got to the point where I was trying to ferret out fakes from non-fakes but decided that was probably not safe. So now I don't do that and just let them know I suspect them before it goes very far and the real ones will have the goods for me and that has worked.
