Hello alemontejo, and welcome to ScamWarners.

It is safest to seek an au pair position through an agency which is a member of the International Au Pair Association (IAPA) or, for UK positions only, an agency which is a member of the British Au Pairs Agencies Association (BAPAA). You can find a list of IAPA member agencies in your country, or in the country you hope to travel to, here:

http://www.iapa.org/members/member-list/

(Click on 'Alphabetical by Country' for the full list.)

And a list of BAPAA member agencies here:

http://www.bapaa.org.uk/directory.asp?page=20

Some of these agencies do charge a registration or placement fee to au pairs; others may charge a fee to the host family only.

Please also be aware that citizens of only a few countries are eligible for a visa to become an au pair in the UK. You can read about this, and find out whether you are from one of the eligible countries here:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ityscheme/

If you also click on 'Conditions of your stay' on the left hand side of that webpage, you will be able to confirm that this is the correct visa for au pairs.

Scammers pretend that anybody from any country are able to be an au pair in the UK, but this is not true.
