Scammers do try to intimidate their victims. It works all too often. Typically scammers are not in the country you live in. If you are messing around with this person, you are doing something dangeous which we do not recommend because the scammer has your real life information.

quite agitated because I haven't sent him any money yetcauses me to believe you cashed a check the scammer sent you. If this is true, you need to contact your bank as soon as possible. Any check you were sent is a forgery and you are the one who deposited the forgery.
