Possible car sale scam - Need advice !!

He can not be arrested because no one knows who he is for real. Scammers use fake names and free email providers. They often have other victims pick up the money and forward to them. These scammers are in countries where Law Enforcement will look the other way for a bribe. Same goes for Western Union or Money Gram often these clerks will take a bribe and accept a fake ID.

I got a text from a Gary McDonald asking me to contact him on his email address. He asked for the history of the car and then agreed to pay full price via Paypal and then he would get a "carrier" to pick up the car since he was out of town.

I don't know about you, but who would buy a car with 110,000 miles on it without a test drive or inspection? See ya Gary

I replied to an ad that I thought was too good to be true on [url]utvdrive.com[/url] the ad was there until this afternoon. It was for a 2010 Audi A3 2.0ltr TDI S line Sportback. This time he seems to calling himself Mark Hunter and is only a lowly Lieutenant serving in Gibraltar. He has sent me further photos of the car, there is no mention of PayPal yet. I had the gut feeling it was too good to be true hence finding this brilliant forum while googling "Gibraltar Car Scam".

if you can't see or inspect the car before paying, then you should never consider buying it and, it sounds as if that's what you're being set up for.

If you can only post photos of your car on a website then you shouldn't put it up for sale. When someone does, it doesn't mean you're getting a bargain, it means you're being scammed.

The scammer will most likely offer you a non-existent fantasy service that guarantees you aren't taking any risk. You'll find that their service is just a phony website the scammer has set up.
