Sextortion Scam: What To Do If You're Being Blackmailed (2026)

Believe I almost fell victim to this scam as well.

Thin white blonde named Stacey claiming to be from Michigan started messaging on Badoo and gave me her number. (Her Badoo profile was blocked/removed by Badoo shortly after)
We started texting and she started sending nudes and I played along because she posed as over 18. Her area code and her father who claims to have reported me's area code are from South Carolina and the Detective they hired's area code is from Texas. They claim that I have to call them otherwise they will turn info over to the police and charge me. Does this sound like a similar situation that has happened to anyone else? Should I be worried?
After reading this article, it feels like the exact same scam with different names and numbers. Any insight to this problem would help greatly.

For the record I used a TextNow number to message this person due to lack of trust in people already. Can this be traced back to my personal information?

Hi. I made the stupid mistake of replying to a girl on kik she sent two nude photos and I replied back. She is not threatening to post them on Facebook and pornhub unless I sign up to a website. I told her ok but I did not do it and deactivated my kik account I could really use someone’s help

The Facebook that she was threatening to post the pictures on was Ellen DeGeneres and PornHub. I’ve deleted my kik account and made sure that my FB privacy settings where correct. What do I do now?

I was told to pay tomorrow through western union, or my video and pics would be sent to my family and be posted on YOUTUBE

Don't pay these cockroaches anything . File a report on the IC3 Website and deactivate your Facebook account . If they post anything on YouTube you can have it removed.

I was sending pics to this girl on kik and now I'm being blackmailed with a picture that is very revealing they want money but and have threatened to send the pic to a girl I'm trying to get back together with they have found my Facebook and I really dont feel safe about can anyone suggest what I do next
