No you do not need a new email or paypal account.
Forward the fake emails to "
[email protected]" so their security team can look at them and see if there is any action that can be taken.
It would also help if you copied and pasted the emails you received that were supposedly from paypal into a post here (just remove your own name and email address or replace with xxx) so that others can see the script these scammers are using.
-You never have to send money in order to receive money that is owed to you in paypal.
-Paypal does not hold funds pending shipping.
-Paypal will never tell you to send money via another payment service (including bank transfer.) Paypal is a money transfer system, and they earn their money by charging a percentage for each transfer. If they send you to do a bank transfer, they lose that transfer fee. They will NOT do that.
