You may not be aware purplestormwitch, but this scam is most likely part of a massive wave of advert scamming by a criminal group, or an associated group, who are flooding UK ad sites with fraudulent adverts.

In the past two days I have detected 38 fraudulent adverts on autotrader UK alone and I know other people who are listing fraudulent adverts on ebay. They are listed here and the volume is increasing.

i have reported them all but they may remain 'live' for several days after I first report them and it's therefore impossible to rely on the work of people reporting fraudulent adverts to keep these sites free of scams. If the sites become overwhelmed they will lose all useful function. I would never risk using one of the sites to buy a vehicle.
