I believe I have come across another scam used by this scammer on Facebook. I have a friend who is in a "relationship" with a man who contacted her through Facebook and he has made her fall in love with him. I've been trying to do background checks on him but with no luck. He gave her a number and when I googled the number 8134382156 this scam warners post came up. He said he fedEx a check to her but it's in his name and he will have to come deposit it. He supposedly lives in Florida, does business in Texas and is currently doing business in Africa where is "goods" are being held by customs until he pays $1500 in taxes. He keeps trying to get her to raise the money (she was denied from 3 banks for a loan) to help him out. Anyone else know of this scam? He is using the name Philbert Mark Jurich.

Welcome to Scamwarners raw_energy1,

Yes, it is a scam. A typical romance scam. The scammer will pretend to be a business man. He is telling her he is in Africa because he is an African male. He wants to steal her money. He will make up reasons why he needs money. Like what you already said. He is pretending that he needs money to get something cleared through customs.

As you can see with the phone number he will do multiple types of scams.

Please, you and your friend should read this thread. http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewto ... =13&t=3607

Your friend can even come here and ask questions. If she sends money she will never get it back. If the scammer sends a check it will be fake. If by chance he has hacked a victims bank account then it will be real. If your friend cashes it she will be committing bank fraud. Also the money will be returned to the victim and your friend will have to re-pay the bank.
