As long as you keep responding to him or reading his mail. He will continue because he thinks there is a chance of a pay day. If you pay any blackmail you will continue to pay blackmail to him until you follow the advice given or go broke.

This is a well documented scam . On the pages of this blog and on many other resources on the internet . These are FAKE profiles using stolen photos . You need to understand this and REPORT IT . Change your phone number and Deactivate your online social media profiles .

Well I fell victim to the POF scam today, a girl on pof contacted me two days ago and her profile read that she was 18 so i began pming her until she asked if i would like to sext well suffice to say I exchanged pics with her and today I was Contacted by a man who said he was her father and his name was Craig Collins and he threatened me with jail time for child pornography, and that his daughter was hospitalized from a drug overdose and that he does not believe in going to the police but that i needed to be punished and stated I needed to pay his daughters medical bills that totaled $3300.45. and asked me what i thought was fair as a down payment so I stated $1000 and he agreed so I ended up sending the money west union but i sent it for next day not in mins so the guy calls up and sets up a payment plan with me. so all is said and done I then get on this site and read about the scam, and recall the money so he calls me up after i block him. Then here is the kicker my mother called him from her phone earlier so he calls her and then sends a nude pic of his quote on quote daughter, so he just messed up there. well The number he called from was 1-803-323-8494

I am glad you were able to recall your money.

Continue to block him and have your mother block him. Be suspicious of calls from unknown numbers.

What is the link to fake profile? What was the fake user name. Please post all the details you can.

Had a friend who just dealt with this scam. I told him to just ignore it, but they continue to harass him for money.
So I began researching the phone numbers related to the calls and text messages, all of which appear to be Verizon except for a spoofed call "from" the "Pickens Police Department" in SC which returned the actual number listed on their Department website. I don't have the offending scammers user account off of POF, but it's almost an identical story to the many others in this thread. The rest of the numbers are "pay as you go" phones and can't be traced to a name.
