Yeah, as I said earlier, it happened in July. I reported it, but I saw a couple people posting about follow ups or what happened to people after the fact. I didn't want to post initially out of embarrassment, but I figured I'd do it to give people confidence. Thanks for this site, really!

Mode Note Op reports scammer stated age 18 initially..

They tried to scam me today. Met this "girl" on POF and she said she had recently moved to the area(ATX) from Atlanta. She ended up beign 16.long story short we txted back and foward. She randomly sends an explicit txt. Which my dumb self reply to. Hours later i get a call from Mr Brown the father of this "girl" basically asking for money to cover for flight to treatment center, treatment and cell phone cancelation. The "girls" name was Judy and i dont remember her pof user name.this was the number she gave me (678) 753-2507 the same number that the father called me from.he wanted me to send the money thru western union to his wifes name. If anyone explains me how to post a picture i can show yall what the "girl" looked like.

Original age on pof said she was 18.we traded a few pics, nothing sexual. But later on today randomly sent me a text that reads "i cant wait to feel you inside me" we exchanged a few more txts, i find out "she was" 16. No more txts for a few hours, i get a call from mr Brown around 4:45 central time saying that "Judy" asaumted her teacher when the teacher tried to take the phone away. We wanted me to split the cost of the treatment for rehab, air fare, and phone cancelation. Did some research and found this site. Inmediatelly changed my number and block the girls number.

A very similar scam happened to me in late July. I met a girl on a dating site (18+ of course). She was in her early 20s. We messaged each other and eventually exchanged numbers (1st mistake). Afterwards via text message she sent a somewhat sketchy nude photo and I obliged on my end which was mistake no. 2! After this I had a feeling this was a big scam but I was still new to this type of stuff.

Following this, there was about a week of non-correspondence and then all of a sudden I get a text message from the Dad saying it's "Crystal's father" and you have 10 minutes to explain yourself as to why you are texting a "minor". It was a long text and went on about a payment which I ignored. At that point I blocked the number and I had a good idea it was a scam due to forums like this and sites like okcaller, etc. I also notified the CAFC.

The number is 1-980-925-9676 (North Carolina). I unfortunately don't have the profile link (OkCupid) as I do not have an account on there anymore.

Thanks for the great work you are doing!

Okay so yesterday I get a match from this check and she messages me and whatever, anyways we get to texting and she asks for a pic of me so I send one and she sends one back, then we're talking and out of no where I get a pic of her topless. this whole time she says shes 18 then of course she asks one of me and I send it, and then she tells me that shes actually 17 and turns 18 on the 7th of this month. During the whole time her texting is pretty bad, no proper grammer and messes up on very easy things, some times it sounds like shes speaking like a caveman, and of course I was skeptical but kept on going with it. so then she sends me 2 more nudes and asking if Im single and just very direct and weird. Then after another brief and not good convo she stops texting all together for the night, and then in the morning doesnt text back either. Then I get a call out of no where in the afternoon, I miss it, and listen to the voice mail, and its a dude with a country draw talking about how hes "Missy's father" and he "saw the trash on her phone" and I need to "call him immediately," or hell "take her device and my info to law enforcement".
I immediately deleted all texts and everything having to do with her or that number, I deleted my POF account. Her profile is AllGold24 its a white girl with 3 pics, last 2 are somewhat revealing, its says shes for hangout and casual dating/no commitment. and her bio is short and kinda redundant.
The phone number I got a call from is Kentucky area code and I'm in Cali,

In my case above, I also wanted to mention that I was embarrassed about the whole situation back then which is why I didn't post about it. Since September though I've seen more posts about the number (980-925-9676) on various sites therefore I've tried to help and assure other victims.

My pleasure. Glad to help out.

For the number I indicated, a few sites indicates it's not an actual number and most others say it's a mobile number from North Carolina. In your research, is the latter the answer? I had also read about "spoof caller ID"? Thank you.
