I've been Skyping with a David Alex Packer for 3 days now. He writes me long emails too. We've been exchanging pictures. He sends me pictures with his son and a picture of him in uniform. He says he loves me, but we've never met. He says he's a doctor in Kabul and helping out. He says his son is living with his ex wife in Berlin Germany. He plans to see me next month.
I am starting to like him, but something tells me its a scam. I hope I'm not being played. He hasn't asked money yet.
It's just scary when you put Donald Packer and David Alex Packer. Hmmmm same last name. I'm scared. God I hope not. I hope I'm just being paranoid

I sent him a picture with my kids. I hope I didn't put them in danger. He sent me his pictures with his son and a picture in Army uniform. I almost believed him. Thank God I found him out early. Thank you Romance scam. I found the same pictures and emails word for word. I wish I could attach his pictures here.

Nothing to worry about there.

These scammers hide behind a keyboard in a foreign country, trying to con vulnerable women and men into sending them cash. They do this largely because they know they are unlikely to get caught, and if they are caught, it is very possible they will be able to bribe their way out of trouble. If there isn't an extremely large amount of money traceable to them, the government of their victims' country is unlikely to attempt to extradite them.
Traveling to you or your children is a completely different story. There would be records of their travel; they would be caught on security cameras and on webcam. There would be a high risk of being caught--and the government of a foreign country is very unlikely to be sympathetic. They would run a very real risk of facing real punishment. They are too cowardly to take that chance.
