No need to get in to a blind panic Laura.

Your personal details were never what they were after and it's unlikely they'll attempt to do anything with them. They can't make transfers or give instructions without your signature or passwords, so it doesn't give them the ability to perform a fraud.

They just ask those things to make themselves sound plausible and if they can get personal information out of someone it's got you ready for the next step.

You've avoided the major catastrophe which would involve you in depositing counterfeit cheques into your account, losing money and ending in dispute with your bank and the police. Believe me - what you've avoided is good reason to celebrate. It might be an idea to mention to your bank what happened and follow their advice. They'll be pleased you spotted it before you took it further, as this sort of situation is a major problem to them too.

Mail the scammer and tell him you are no longer interested in the job. He'll pester you but if you ignore him he'll go elsewhere, but you'll get more scams to look out for.

Hi,

Received one of these emails the other day and they seem to be coming form @elmjob.com now (i.e. no hyphen). Still no web page up yet, but doubt it will take them long.

Hi kalel, welcome to scamwarners.

Thank you for notifying us about the other site, that one caught my attention before and is already in the "to kill"-list. In this case I don't think there ever will be a page content, they are using the domain merely to send emails. The domain name gives them a bit more credibility, and there is very little info for the killers to prove a domain is linked to scams this way. This is why some of these domains are a PITA to get them down.

But don't worry, the site killing team aren't quitters ;)

Thanks. I checked and my mail address was not showing anywhere. I guess I was Bcced but I should have removed the main recipient out.
Cheers,
Erwan
Ralph wrote:Hi Wawan, welcome to Scamwarners.

Just to be sure, the first thing I need to make sure is the "To" email address, if that is your email address please edit it out as soon as possible.

It is not a good idea at all to identify yourself here in public

Thanks for posting the email from this scammer, if you have any questions, please ask

well having read all this thread im pretty sure this email is a scam but it seems they have a new email address and i figured u guys might want it so here it is

Thanks for the heads up fflint! Do you have an email sent from this addy (or the mail where they ask you to send to that addy?) That would help building our case. I'll be setting the gears in motion to get it closed asap! :D

Welcome fflint!
im pretty sure this email is a scam
There is absolutely no doubt that this is a scam, and the same group of scammers that has been running this particular scam for a while.

As Michael said, if you can post any emails from the elmcareer address (including headers but please remove your name and email address first), it will help to provide evidence needed to get that domain registration killed as quickly as possible.

Hi GD, welcome to Scamwarners.

Thank you for this additional information, it will help others to avoid being scammed.

One thing I do need to stress is the importance of not having your details left lying about on the net, it invites scammers and undesirables to contact you.

If you have any questions please ask

Made some edits for clarity and to remove member's email address and name - Ralph
  by Ralph

Hi Charlo, welcome to Scamwarners.

Thank you for posting the header from this email, I really need to get some sleep so I wont go into details but one thing I did notice as i was editing was the use of "The Bat" while it is not a definate sign of a scam or that it proves the scam came from a Russian scammer but that alone is usually a good indicator.

Unusual because the Russians are not well known for running this type of scam but it looks like that may possibly be the case

Hi all,

so glad I come across scamwarners!!!

I also recieved a similar email but instead it came from: Sandra Molins ([email protected]), Re: FW: Work opportunity : (id 482VW)?. I'd say there's more email adress or they change them all the time....

I reveived an email giving a brief offer so I asked how they got my details and stated I did not want to forward my CV as it has personal information within (this was about 2 weeks ago). Today I received and offer + terms which I found strange considering I did not send them my CV and no interview had been taken.

Shame scams like this are around, sounded like a good opportunity especially as I have an office set up.

Look out people!!!

Thanks again Scamwarners for the advice, it was tempting for about 7-8 minutes ;)

Hi Laura,

I have received the same email from ELM. 1,800 GBP is quite big and very tempting because when it will be converted to my currency it will be P126,000 plus. I was about to send them back the signed contract with my bank details when I remember to browse into the internet the ELM scams and found your site. My goodness I was about to be scammed. Thank God! The email is like this:
