Durk. Welcome.

You have come to the very best place. I am very new here also, but know that the people here really know their stuff and that the advice and help they give is second to none.

Someone will pick up on this thread to assist and guide you soon, but perhaps if you posted some details to give them some idea of what your situation is and how they can best advise you. Suggest in general topics, personal accounts of scams, press new topic. If it is the wrong place I am sure it will be tranfered later.

My advise to you straightaway, because you state you are being scammed, is to stop all contact with the scammer. He maybe has your real life address and perhaps other personal details. People who bait the scammers always do so using no real life info for their safety. Scammers are criminals and dangerous.

Hi Durk

As the Enchantress has correctly pointed out, your best course of action is to stop all contact immediately.

I understand your desire to have this person caught, but I also know the reality of how likely it is that this will occur.

Do you know where the person emailing you actually is?
Do you know their real name?
If you have seen an ID, was it of the person you were writing to or an ID that person has stolen or maybe even an ID that has been created?

There are so many things scammers hide about their scams, the police are under resourced and have no jurisdiction, some of our members have been able to get scammers behind bars, it does happen sometimes but in order for that to happen the scammer needs to have slipped up badly and done it to somebody who picks up the mistake and knows how to deal with it.

I am sorry, I wish I could be found to be wrong on this, but getting the scammer locked up is certainly not something you need to be focusing on right now, right now your first consideration should be to prevent further loss and the best way to start there is to stop replying

As mentioned above, please provide some details of the scam and we can certainly see what can be done with it.
If you still believe that you have evidence and information that will lead to an arrest, then please let us know and we may be able to help you with it
