I believe you are correct, Anki.

The link you sent leads to a website that has been around for several years, and appears to be authentic. Assuming the photos are of the same person, (and it does look like it) then it would be correct to assume that the soldier whose photos are being used is Kiran Hill, and one or more scammers stole his name as well as his photos. Some scammers do actually use the real person's name in addition to their image when stealing photos. Of course the real Kiran Hill has nothing to do with the scam itself.

I think this Christian guy that was mentioned by jerseywoman earlier is at the prowl again...

His MO is pretty much the same as per your post and as per the other scammers that I've met... Luckily, I have a bit of knowledge on military stuff as my ex was a military officer before... He's using the same email address as well which was I think a bit stupid... But to top that he even showed himself to me on video and he doesn't look the same as the pictures he sent me (quite small and grainy).

Hi all!
I just want to inform you that today I have been in contact with Kiran Hill on Facebook. He told me that he knows that his photo has been used by scammers. He has pointed this out on Facebook, but nothing they did to block the user. However, he had sent messages to all the scammarens friends list and told them that it is not he who was on the Facebook page, and they have been the victim of a scammer. He also said that he would do everything to stop these bastards, I said it's something we all want. I'm glad that my puzzle has finally become clear, and must say that getting in touch with Kiran was something I had hoped for, but never thought it would happen.
