Please don't feel bad about yourself....these guys are GOOD at what they do...very good. No matter who we are, how educated we are, where we are from, they know how to do this and get over on us.

You will see there are others out there like you. You should definitely post the jerk's information.

yes, you are right about headers, it is that. Sorry you lost the money to scammers.
Beware of future email supposedly from people (including those posing as law enforcement agents) who claim being able to retrieve the money you sent, as they may be operating recovery scams.
Moreover, beware that you may be on many scammers' list (thus you may receive more scam emails in future), as they now know they could get some money from you.

As you learned, the scammer is nowhere near England, where he claimed to be.
If you continue to use online dating sites, anytime you get an email, you can check the headers and see if the person is where they say they are. Just be aware that some of the email companies, gmail for one, strip the IP address. Gmail resolves back to Mountain View, California, where google headquarters are located. There are also tricks that the scammers can use to hide their actual location.
