Subject: Import/Export Business account

Hi Smiley
I opened a business account with Barclays Bank Barnet
This will be used for the Import/Export business to get the farm machinery and equipment and any other supplies

This will save on the cost of the transport of goods and VAT

The business bank account you will open with the Bank of Morocco in London will enable the money you make in Morocco to be sent to this account in London with no problem, so you will be able to get your money out of Morocco

Regards

Maria

There isn't enough information to give a precise response but there's no need to open a bank account with a Moroccan bank in London to receive money from Morocco. An account with a Moroccan bank in London has exactly the same status as a British account. There isn't any special status a Moroccan bank enjoys and I would advise you use the account you have. Morocco is connected to the SWIFT system and can make payments to any bank in any country.

The problem is usually in getting the importer to pay up, after completing whatever paperwork is required by the Moroccan authorities. The nationality of your bank won't make any difference to that.

I spent most of my working life in a bank dealing with international trade and I advise you to be very cautious. If a foreign importer won't pay up it's very hard to do much about it, and most know this and take advantage of the fact.
