Welcome jorda and gypsyanne,

I am glad both of you saw through the scams.

It is very common for scammers to repeat emails like that. These scammers usually have a sequence of pre-written emails (we call them scripts) intended to draw the victim in and set up the storyline. They do this for a combination of reasons:
-they are lazy
-their English is often poor
-they are nothing like their characters, so it's easier to stay "in character" if they have a script to follow
-using scripts enables them to scam dozens of victims at once.

Many of us here are also scambaiters over at 419eater.com (we pretend to be victims, taking precautions to protect our true identities--this wastes their time, and gives us more information about them and how they work). You can see many examples over there of scammer scripts, and how baiters work to get scammers "off-script" so they are forced to write their own emails/chats (many parts of chat are prepared in advance too). If they go "off script" you will often see a deterioration in English (not that the scripts are always perfect, but off-script is typically worse), and you may see more inconsistencies in their stories if they are too careless to go back and review what they sent before.
