I have been chatting to this person by the name of Thomas Adams email [email protected]et. A few days ago he said he want me to request Vacation leave from the US Army because he is Afghanistan. I am not from America so I don't know anything about the military. I filled in the Vacation form requesting for his 12 weeks leave
But then I received a letter back to say that in order for him to get his leave I must pay 1500 in UD into an account via Western Union. I started getting this funny feeling in my gut. And send him an email to say I a
not by the means in anyway to pay this money and I will never have it.This is the address where the money must be sent to:
Name: Anderson Woods
City : London
Country : United Kingdom

He contacted me this evening to say that I must go to yahoo messenger at 10.00pm south african time and use this address: [email protected]. What do I do I am sure this is a scam from what I read here

He is a scammer without any doubt bubbles50.

American soldiers don't buy leave. If they're entitled to it, they get it free.

The US Army doesn't receive money using Western Union. Western Union can only receive money sent to private individuals. Any money you pay won't go to the Army it will go in to a scammer's pocket.

The scammer is also a fool because he has said that the money must be sent to London.

The scammer isn't in London or Afghanistan. He has told you where he is - South Africa. The location shown on the payment won't matter if the scammer gets the payment details from you.

Delete his mails and ignore him.

Anyone you meet online who asks you for money is a scammer.

Hi bubbles50, welcome to scamwarners.

You are completely correct, this is a classic military love scam. Thank you very much for posting his email adress. Can you also please post the emails that he sent you? That way it can be found by other people using search engines.

You also mentioned receiving an email from us-armyatwar.com, I am very interested in that one, could you post this as well, with a set of headers? This is an email domain that needs to be closed down, and in those headers lies the evidence I need. If you are unsure about what headers are or how to find them, just tell us which email provider you use and we'll explain it to you :)

Further, stop mailing to the scammer. Every mail, every word he has sent to you is a lie - it was all said with the intention of getting your money. Just ignore and delete all future emails, don't bother to read or respond them. Soon he will understand you're not falling for his scam and will move on.

Welcome!

I'm glad you became suspicious before your scammer got too far.

As the others have already said, leave is not paid for. It is earned, like vacation - either the soldier is entitled to it, or he isn't.

But there is an even more important point to understand, and that is the basic structure of the US military. The US military is a very closed organization that handles everything internally. It is set up that way for a reason, and that is not going to change. If a soldier wants to use his leave time, he has to request it himself, by submitting an internal request that will be moved through the chain of command and either approved or denied. If a soldier needs access to anything, the request MUST come from him, and he is taught the request process from the very beginning. Civilians are not in a position to request ANYTHING on behalf of a soldier. Even legal spouses or family members cannot request leave for a soldier.

The simple rule is, if you are contact with someone who says he is the US military, and he asks you to make ANY request to the military, he is a scammer. Occasionally a scammer will try to claim that it is a "new" policy, but that is just another lie (and it also shows he doesn't understand the most basic principles of the military's operation, as these fake scammer policies completely violate those principles.)

Gosh I think I may have cornered the market. I have heard from 4 of these scammer soldiers all at one time. I think you need to beaware of the poor grammer and mispellings. I am engaged to one of them too. Oh well will be interesting to see what happens. I have never had any intention of sending money for him to come home.
Here are the names being used and the sites I picked them up from were Zorpia and Tagged.
Sgt. Major Richard E Smith out of Houston TX, Sgt. James Brian Thiago, Blue Angel Minnisota, Sgt.Wettebase Broadway NC, and Major Joe Butterfield. Sad fact is there is a Brittish Commander Richard E Smith and a Sgt. Joe Butterfield.

Out of three of these men I have had the request for money for a cell phone, leave home and the big money is on it way, cash and send Western Union. Ho hum,,, back to the drawing board looking for a real man.

Welcome to ScamWarners CJlabradorlover78. We don't encourage continuing to contact scammers particularity when they have your real name and information whether it is from a dating site or just from email.

What you are doing is what is called scam baiting and we do not support it here. You can go to our sister site and learn how to be safe doing that. We want people to stay safe on the internet.

Yes, that is what scammers try to do. Get you to send them something of value, especially cash sent via Western Union. I am glad that you are seeing through what they do to drain money from victims. Thank you for this additional information.

Thanks for the post, I am currently refusing to acknowledge any of them now that I found your site. I did want to mention I just received a fake money order through a second party that Wettebase wanted cashed. It has been turned into the US postal service. It is a good imitation but no watermark. Interesting it came from a man in Columbus Oh but was sent from Texas by Fedex. I contacted Tagged where I met Wettebase and told them my story and blocked him. Hopefully he will get the boot. The others I am just ignoring and they are starting to stop contacting me. Thank goodness. I used to work for the police and am a crack shot so should anything strange ever show up at my front door, I'm not too worried. I've had alot of training.

Wish I could get my computer to post those pictures for everyone. REally bummed out about Thiago. Was great till we hit the cell phone request......thank goodness this site is here to educate all of us. Thanks so much!
