Appears I have been caught by the snbautomotive.com car shippers scam. Short version is that I 'bought' a classic vehicle on-line from a guy going by the name of Stephan Mauer in'Zurich' - Probably all fake of course. Asked for, and got, copy of his passport - Probably also fake.
Wanted to use my own shipper but he insisted to use his - Which appeared legit.
Paid $20K into a supposed escrow account through ING bank in Holland. I've tried to stop the wire transfer soon as I smelt a rat........Still trying.
This guy is posing as an accounts manager for a Swiss building company http://www.evtconstruct.com - which on closer inspection now also seems fake.
Looks like quite a sophisticated scam which you guys seem to have already known about?
Anything you can add? Has anyone any further information about any of this and if so why is it still operating.
And yes - I've contacted Interpol in Switzerland but heard nothing so far. Appreciate any help........
