Hi all
I have been chatting to a "US" solider for just over a week now, he has given me the usual lines such as he loves me and cant waiti to see me etc etc!

Anyway to cut a long story short he has asked me to apply for leave for him so that he can come to visit me here in the UK, eventually getting round to the point that he needed me to transfer £850 to his account as he was having problems with his bank!

My gut instinct was that this was indeed a scam so I googled the cell phone number he gave me and it would seem that this is a number that has appeared on this site ie a false number that conveniently can only accept text messages but cannot take calls.

The mobile number he gave me is 07770807679, has anyone been given this number by any scammers.

Look forward to your replies.

Welcome pepsibabe,
I'm glad you were not scammed and did a search on his cell phone number. Do you still have his email address? It would help a lot when another victim is searching for information

Thanks, pepsibabe, you helped a lot.
Please stop all communication with him now, he's a criminal. If he gets p***ed off, he might retaliate and post your email address and photos all over the internet accusing YOU of being the scammer.

Thank you for the update and follow up. Sadly, scammers hang around all social networking / dating sites like leeches.

See my post on this same identical scam - I knew it was fake when I first heard that money was involved. And when I read the associated paperwork prepared by an obvious illiterate african- I knew it had absolutely NO VALIDITY WHATSOEVER. In my case this was the subsequent attempt to extract money. The first attempt was to get me to pay for a satellite phone system for her at a cost of around $400.
