The user Elaina Amandine posted the following scam message on the Honolulu Marathon Events Strava group:
Hello everyone , due to an injury, I am selling my marathon ticket please Message me on WhatsApp: +1(570)285-1596if you are interested thanks…!
This attempted scam is one of many that regularly appear on the running social media site Strava. It is looking for people who would like to take part in an event, to make contact with a view to paying for the race entry (or 'bib') to be transferred to them. The scammer gets payment, then shuts down all contact with the victim.
