The following scam attempt was sent as a post, and a comment to other posts, across several event-based Strava groups, including the Melbourne Half, the Honolulu Marathon and the Scottish Marathon groups:

This attempted scam is one of many that regularly appear on the running social media site Strava. It is looking for people who would like to take part in an event, to make contact with a view to paying for the race entry (or 'bib') to be transferred to them. The scammer gets payment, then shuts down all contact with the victim.
