The following scam comment was made to several separate posts in the Canberra Marathon, and other related Strava groups:

Hey everyone! My sister and I are looking to transfer our Canberra marathon 2026 bibs. We mixed up with schedule just finding someone who can use them.If you’re interested, drop a comment with your number and I’ll text you. Thank you!

This attempted scam is one of many that regularly appear on the running social media site Strava. It is looking for people who would like to take part in an event, to make contact with a view to paying for the race entry (or 'bib') to be transferred to them. The scammer gets payment, then shuts down all contact with the victim.
