I am sharing this to protect other exporters and suppliers from becoming victims.
An organization operating as "Vänlighet Humanitarian Development Of Sweden" (vanlighethd-sweden.com) is running an advance fee fraud scheme targeting commodity exporters worldwide.
How it works:
1. Initial contact comes from "Christer Åström" via [email protected] — an unsolicited bulk email posing as a Swedish sourcing agent seeking large commodity supply contracts.
2. The target is directed to "Vänlighet Humanitarian Development Of Sweden" which issues professional-looking tender forms and a fake contract award for large quantities (e.g. 24,000 MT of tapioca starch valued at USD 14,976,000).
3. Before any payment is released, the victim is told to contact "Paul Kennedy" at [email protected] and pay for a fraudulent "Certificate of Non-Conviction."
4. This certificate fee is the advance payment the fraudsters are after. Further fees would follow.
Key identifiers:
Legitimate Swedish certificates of non-conviction are FREE and obtained directly from polisen.se — never through a private Gmail address.
