Hello ladies,
I have been contacted by no less than 5 scammers on various dating sites, all with variation of the scam written up in the Emmanuel David section. So glad I found this site so I can now report them when I find them!
"Mark" follows the same pattern - engineer who works on an oil rig in Scotland. Always says this is his last job because he wants to settle down with his woman. He has a 19 yr old son who lives with his mom in London becuase he is widowed. He is usually widowed with a child. Past scammers have had a 9 year old daughter. This guy said he owned a home in Ohio but was renting a condo in Brooklyn (my area). He is on a site called Kissburg and his screenname there is optimisticluvr.
Not only are the photos fake, but scammer copied and pasted a real profile that he found elsewhere. It was immediately clear that the guy on the phone with the accent was not the guy who wrote the ad! Always look for inconsistencies in the writing between the ad and any followup correspondence. This guy could not even tell me what he liked to do in his spare time - while the ad was full of activities that the real guy likes to do.
I did not give him my personal email address and to test him out I gave him my work number. Usually they do not call - preferring to text or IM. He did call and asked me to text him when I got home. Instead, I searched his number and found this website. I did send him one last message through the site he contacted me on and that contained the link to this site on the Romantic Scams page!
Be careful and cautious out there everyone!
