This is not a genuine au pair opportunity; it is a scam.

Dear Au pair,
we are looking for someone loving and energetic to look after our lovely 4 Years old baby boy Steven and our pretty 2 years old baby girl Angela. Ideally the person would start as soon as possible, although we are prepared to wait for the right person. You will be required to look after both of them along with my wife during the day (Monday to Friday) whilst I am at work, with additional babysitting once or twice a week in the evenings or at the weekends. Additionally, we would really like it if you could help out with some light housework like vacuuming, doing laundry, etc. And preference will be given to those who love cooking as well! My wife, Clara is currently 2 months pregnant with our third child so as much help and assistance around the house would be excellent. The most important thing is that you must love kids, and be happy to help out around the house. We would like you to enjoy spending time with Steven and Angela, and take very good care of them. they are a very happy, friendly, cute kids, they really love to be taken out of the house to playgroups, swimming in our pool, going to the swings or beach, meeting friends, etc. They will grow to love you very much. Ideally we would like you to become like one of our family. In return we can offer you a very competitive weekly wage of 500GBP for a live-in position (in our 5 bedroom detached villa, London, UK) You will have your own double bedroom with en-suite ,television, DVD player, Wi-Fi internet access and radio. We can also give you access to our car if necessary.
Alternatively, we are happy to offer the right person a live-out position. If this was the case you must be available to work between 7.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday. We are a very flexible, young and easy-going couple, and want you to be happy with us. Travel costs will be covered by us. So do reply as soon as this mail comes to you, with when you will like to start up duties, and resume/pictures.

How did you know? Were you a victim of this person?

The most important sign of a scam in that email is that the amount of money that is offered far too high is. In the UK you will only get weekly pocket money and not wages.

The same email posted by Chris Fuller was in my inbox yesterday. Has anyone confirmed that it is a scam ? Or is there any evidence ?

I can't believe how many such au-pair-scams are circulated. And they all come form UK-residents .....(from Dr. xx, Engr. xx, ...). For sure, too 'attractive' salaries and packages (own flat, car, TL/Internet, much free time, ....) + requests for photos and docs are true matter of watching oneself and keep distance. As a basic rule: DO NEVER EVER send any personal data, photo or money !!!!

Notice that Chris is a moderator here. Chris is a very experienced scamwarner who specializes in researching au pair scams, and if Chris posts something as a scam, you can be absolutely certain that it is one.

But if for some reason you still had doubts, it's quite clear that it is a scam when you see that in January, his name was Maxwell Phillips, and his wife was 2 months pregnant then too:

Additionally, we would really like it if you could help out with some light housework like vacuuming, mopping floors, doing laundry, etc. And preference will be given to those who love cooking as well! My wife is currently 2 months pregnant with our second child so as much help and assistance around the house would be excellent.

The most important thing is that you must love kids, and be happy to help out around the house. We would like you to enjoy spending time with Mathew, and take very good care of him. He is a very happy, friendly, cute boy, who really likes to be taken out of the house to playgroups, swimming in our pool, going to the swings or beach, meeting friends, etc. He will grow to love you very much. Ideally we would like you to become like one of our family.

Hi guys, just to let you all know, kangarooaupair.com don't give out emails any more. They've updated their messaging system so all communication is internal. I think it just happened recently, I haven't used it much but it looks alot safer.
