rickster:

(Unfortunately, the government agency only takes reports, but they rarely (if ever) take action against the sites themselves--there is a tremendous amount of red tape for them.

That's why the anti-scam community has several groups dedicated to taking action. Our volunteers review, compile, and submit fraud reports to site hosts and/or registrars in order to get them taken down. Many hosts respond immediately, while others can be a bit more resistant to taking action--and some will do nothing over weekends.

Sometimes hosts will not cooperate, and we have to go to the registrars to get the domain registration killed. Sometimes a site can be killed in a few hours, other times it takes much longer.

If you have a recruiting email from them, including headers, please post it here (remove your own name and email address). That will be added to the existing evidence--and the more evidence available, the sooner action can be taken.
