I work for Brick City Motors and the scammers have stolen part of our website, customer reviews and now are using our personal names. We had filled with the US Govt internet fraud division. We have heard nothing on this. I get occasional calls from people who purchased from them but I suspect its the scammers. They never want to release any information. What else can we do to stop these people? Your suggestions are most welcome.

Hello Cangel,

I'm sorry your business is being hijacked like this, you are definitely not the only business to have had this happen to them.

There are some things you can do.

First, please contact your local police immediately and inform them of what is happening. They may be able to assist, or get assistance from other departments, because this is ongoing and appears to have been ongoing for a while.

After you have spoken with the police, depending on what they say and want to do, you will need, or whoever handles the online side of things needs, to contact your websites hosting company, inform them of the situation and ask for their assistance in getting the scammers out of your website, and keeping them out. It may be worth hiring specialists to assist.

Once you have them out of your website, I suggest regularly getting your website penetration tested to prevent this happening again.

If you are getting calls from people claiming to have bought cars that your company hasn't sold, I suggest you recommend to them that they contact their local police and report the crime, and that they try to cancel any payments they made.

Thank you, we have notified our local police and we had tracked them to Ohio where the state police were contacted. The business address is a vacant lot. We have people looking for them. We will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. I intend to notify our local and state representatives to help us pursue the matter. I will keep you posted we are looking for the opportunity to have them in custody.
